Keep the historical value in life
Would you like to bring the Austrian Alps into your home? Then choose our Alpine wood wall cladding! We have two variants in our Alpine wood wall cladding: a variant in gray tones and a variant in brown tones. We have resawed our barnwood wall cladding from the old cladding of Austrian barns & houses. These objects were usually located in the high mountains, so the planks have experienced the most severe weather conditions!
As soon as these barns are demolished, we purchase the planks that become available. The wood is sorted on site by color and quality and then exported to the Netherlands. As soon as the scrap wood arrives in the Netherlands, it is dried and all metal is removed. Drying is done in a professional drying room. The barnwood is dried back to approximately 10/12%. After this, it is suitable for interior use. Drying is also very useful against any insects, which do not survive this process.
Due to the extreme weather conditions high in the Alps, the wood has beautiful textures and a lived-in appearance. The many years of sun & snow have created special color patterns. The planks often get a gray color when exposed to a lot of rain & snow. The light brown color occurs when the wood has been in full sun, which is also called ‘Sonnengebrant’. The two variants are named after the color sorting: “Gray weathered” and “Grooved brown”.
